Ashton leaves no stone unturned

Junior “Stone” Ashton has seemingly had the measure of ace distance athlete Pamenos Ballantyne, handing him his second successive defeat,{{more}} when he claimed the LOG Enterprises North Leeward road race, from Troumaca Bay to the Beach Front Restaurant and Bar in Fitz Hughes.

Ashton, who upstaged Ballantyne in the LOG Enterprise Sion Hill Sprint just over two weeks ago, returned a winning time of 20 minutes 25.52 seconds.

Ballantyne was second in 20:30.05.

Taking the male Under-19 was Caswell Lewis of X- Cel in 23:09.04, with Ryan John of IT DAT trumping the Boys Under-15 in 23:34.84.

Taking the veterans Over-40 male was X- Cel’s Caswin Prince. His winning time was 23:28.87.

Lisa Daniel won the Open Female category in 26:48.38. Daniel represented IT DAT.

Kerina Hooper made it three in a row in the female Under-19 segment. The Thomas Saunders student crossed the finish line in 30:18.09.

Delesha Baptiste of the Sandy Bay Secondary copped the female Under-15 title in 30:37.82.

Known more for her cricketing skills, Samantha Lynch of the Division of Sports and Physical Education ran away with the Over-40’s female category in a time of 33:38.64.

It was a bumper turn out at last Sunday’s event, as 175 athletes participated. (RT)
