Minister of Sports Cecil McKie announced during a press conference on August 16 that a committee has been selected to look at changing the existing structure of the event.

“From the Ministry’s standpoint, we think that the structure is a bit outdated and certainly it needs some new life in it,” McKie said.

He did not disclose any of the proposals, but said that the changes would make the sports awards more “relevant and meaningful” to the local athletes.

McKie also announced that measures are being taken to examine all aspects of sports in the country, including the individual athletes, coaching and the existing facilities.(DD)
