The United States, Canada, Barbados, Bermuda, Guyana, St Lucia, Grenada, Jamaica and host Trinidad and Tobago are competing for top honours at the 2012 AFNA Championships.
Teams are using the tournament to improve their world netball ranking, as well as qualification for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, to be held in Glasgow, Scotland.
Trinidad and Tobago won the 2010 tournament, which was staged in St Lucia. Jamaica, the highest ranked Caribbean team, at number four in the world, was absent at the last tournament, but is strong favourite to take the top spot.
St Vincent and Grenadines played in the 2010 AFNA tournament and placed fifth out of the six teams which participated.
The lone win for the Vincentians then was a 53-50 over Canada.
In 2010, the participating teams were St Lucia, Barbados, Canada, USA, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago. (RT)
