On May 12 of this year, TASVG joined the rest of the IAAF Family in observing World Athletics Day with a National Teams Competition held at the Arnos Vale Playing Field. At this event, all participants received special 100th anniversary T-shirts and commemorative pins, all bearing the IAAF Centenary Logo and ‘Look’.

According to a press release from TASVG’s President Keith Joseph: “We participated in the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, in March of this year where the IAAF engaged in the promotion of its Centenary activities.”

TASVG is being represented at the IAAF World Indoor Championships which started on Tuesday, July 10, and will again participate in the activities of the IAAF, aimed at promoting its 100th anniversary. There is a special exhibition mounted in Barcelona, Spain, in tandem with the Championships, at which Brandon Parris is the lone Vincentian participant.

The IAAF has also created an IAAF Centenary Commemorative Medal and Diploma, which will be used to honour worthy recipients in St Vincent and the Grenadines who have made outstanding contributions to sport here.

Additionally, TASVG would be in receipt of the specially produced IAAF Centenary Book and IAAF Centenary Television Series, as well as attend the IAAF Centenary Gala Show and Dinner, the focus of a weekend of activities in the Catalan capital, Barcelona, when there would be demonstration athletics events and the presentation of the 2012 Athletes of the Year Awards.

TASVG has been an integral part of the IAAF family since 1943.
