Diamond Village Football competition kicks off

The 2012 Hairoun-SVG Practical Training Institute Diamond Village Football Competition Opened on Sunday, June 17, with 18 teams competing from the Windward side of the island.{{more}}

The ceremony offered brief remarks from Director of Sports Nelson Hillocks and President of the SVG Football Federation Venold Coombs. The Director of Sports remarked on the positive impact that the Diamonites Community Organization has had in the area of sports, since its inception in 1976.

He urged the teams to practise discipline and perseverance throughout the competition.

Minister Saboto Ceasar could not be present for the ceremony, but his speech was read in his absence. The opening ceremony was followed by a match by the Under 20 National Team and a Mixed Team. The Mixed Team won the game 2-0.
