Spartans, Rivals win big in Premier Division title race
The News Spartans and Rivals both scored large margins of victory last weekend, as the National Lotteries Authority Premier Division of the national Cricket programme staged two matches.{{more}}
At the Stubbs Playing Field, Spartans dumped ASCO by an innings and 84 runs.
Otis Matthews struck 100 and Darnley Joseph 68, as Spartans compiled 260 for 7 declared.
Andre Hunte, 4 for 74, and Darius Martin, 2 for 24, were ASCOâs most successful bowlers.
ASCO, in reply, was blasted out for 90. Chris King made the only score of note, 35, as Basil Andrews 4 for 44, Teron Simon 2 for 14 and Nixon Mc Lean 2 for 16, shared up the wickets for Spartans.
Batting a second time, ASCO reached 84, all out. Oswald Soleyn hit 42.
Kentish Bascombe took 4 for 35 and Teron Simon 4 for 38, to ensure ASCOâs demise.
At the Arnos Vale Two Playing Field, Rivals did likewise to OLA Boutique Radcliffe, dismantling them by an innings and 70 runs.
Radcliffe was sent packing for 53, batting first, undone by the bowling of Olanzo Jackson, who had 4 for 20 and Asif Hooper 4 for 8.
Deighton Butler then slammed 70 and Asif Hooper 42, as Rivals posted 217 all out.
Dyke Cato took 5 for 100 and Lindon James 3 for 29, earning the bulk of the wickets for Radcliffe.
And, with a deficit of 164 runs, Radcliffe fell for 94 in their second innings. Lindon James led the way with 51.
Deighton Butler, capping off a good all- round match, bagged 4 for 21 and Olanzo Jackson snared 3 for 37, as Rivals stay in pole position for the title.(RT)
