Pamelus Burke Primary, champions of Kiddy Cricket Quiz Competition

The Pamelus Burke Primary School earned the title of champion of the 2012 Scotia Bank Kiddy Cricket Quiz Competition, when they defeated twelve other schools in the finals, held last Wednesday afternoon at Frenches House.{{more}}

Pamelus Burke Primary compiled 156 points, earned from the efforts and knowledge of Webster Roban and Shakeem Williams.

The two male students staved off a strong challenge from the Layou Government combination of Alysha Samuel and Justin Simon, whose points tally was 148.

The Fitz Hughes Government docked in third, as they scored 143 points, compliments the knowledge of Del Spring and Jerry Cato.

Fitz Hughes Government though, had to go through another round with the Gomea Methodist, before they could have been granted the third spot.

Both schools were level on points, when the final round of questioning ended.

Apart from trophies to the top three schools, electronic devices are in store for them.

The other schools which emerged to the final stage of competition were also presented with small tokens for their efforts.

Also making it from the zonal preliminary round to the finals were the Argyle Primary, Biabou Methodist, CW Prescod Primary, Buccament Government, Georgetown Government, Richland Park Primary, The Paradise School of Bequia, the St Mary’s Roman Catholic School, and the Owia Government School.

One notable feature of the final was the representation of females on some of the school teams.

The quiz competition forms part of the academic side of the Kiddy Cricket Programme and involves a written component and oral questioning component. (RT)
