Team Crew wins Guinness Street Football Challenge
Team Crew walked away with the Guinness Street Football Challenge last Saturday night at the Arnos Vale Netball Complex and will be St Vincent and the Grenadinesâ representative to the Caribbean finals of the Guinness Street Football Challenge, set for Guyana, June 20 to 24.{{more}}
Team Crew was one of eight teams vying for the coveted prize of $2,000, along with ten cases of Guinness, when they defeated Sharpes FC on penalty kicks.
En route to the local title on Saturday night, Team Crew first eliminated Double Trouble 2-0 and ousted Sea Side Boys 1-0 in the semi-finals.
Emerging from the other half of the single elimination contest came Sharpes FC as Team Crewâs opponent in the finals.
At the end of full time, both teams were locked one goal each. The deadlock remained at the end of extra-time.
Team Crew finally won 2-0.
Sharpes FC was responsible for putting out last yearâs champions Madd Rockers at the quarter final phase.
The other teams which participated in Saturday nightâs finals were No-Nonsense Ballers, In and Out and Guinness Boys.
Team Crew comprised Nicoli Williams, Juma Gilkes, Paul Farrell, Theon Gordon, Rohan Thomas Jr., Dwayne Dennie, Kumar Govia and Kirk Williams.(RT)
