Two Vincentian teams in New York Netball Competition
Antillians Sports Club and Islanders will fly the flag of St Vincent and the Grenadines in this yearâs Caribbean American Netball Association Tournament, in Brooklyn New York, USA.{{more}}
This yearâs tournament sees an increase in team participation, but for St Vincent and the Grenadines representation, a drop in numbers from previous years.
The 2012 edition got going last Saturday with a March Past of teams from the Lincoln Terrace Park along Utica Ave and back.
Under the new Executive, headed by President Patrick Heron, this yearâs competition is expected to see some changes.
Newly elected Vice President Venetta Vanhorne, explained that there have been new clubs registered, hence, they are expecting a compact schedule, this time around.
âThis year we are looking at involving the community with a series of events geared at getting the community more, also we want to get more media for netball and to have everyone talking about netball at Lincoln Terrace Park,â Vanhorne emphasised.
This yearâs tournament will be played in four divisions: Junior, Intermediate, A2 and A1, which is the top division.
Games will be played on Saturdays and Sundays weather permitting. Matches are set to begin at 3:00 pm with the last game set to start at 8:40pm.
This Saturday, June 9, beginning at 3:00 pm, it will be Islanders B versus Typhoon B, with Islanders C meeting Sun Splash C from 5:00 pm. Also from 5:00 pm, Islanders B meets Pivots B, and from 7:15 pm Islanders B takes on Upsetters B.
On Sunday June 10, Antillians play Islander C at 3:00 pm, while at 5:00pm, Antillians and Sun Splash C face each other.
From 6:30pm, itâs Islanders A versus Untouchables C and at 8:oopm, Islanders B and Upsetters A lock horns.
