The six pre-schools which will be part of the inaugural event are the Questelles Miracle Centre Pre School, the Vinsave Pre School, the Salvation Army Kingstown Pre School, the Methodist Pre School, the First Impression Pre School of Mespo and Rainbow Unique Pre School.

In total, over 100 children under the age of five years old, will be part of this novel event.

All of the participating pre-schools are part of the GTC weekly programmes; hence, the tournament will be based on development skills and eye and ball co -ordination, basically.

Head of the GTC, Grant Connell told SEARCHLIGHT: “It’s all about having fun on court and building sportsmanship from an early age, as you will be surprised when as a child you don’t understand about winning and losing.”

An excited Connell further said, “It is about the moulding of one’s character, which is a hard concept to teach a grown man”.

“We at GTC are honoured to play a role in the development of these little minds and would continue to help channel some of their energy in the right direction; we are grateful to our sponsors and signage holders Pine Hill, the closest drink you get to a fruit in a box,” Connell added.

Connell said he hopes the pre-school tournament will grow and other pre-schools will join in the future so, “we can unite the youths through sports”.

Joining in the stamp of approval for the innovative tournament was La Toya Hull of Pine Hill.

“It so important for our children to get a good start in life by teaching them to eat right, keeping active, how to interact with new children and even to teach them good sportsmanship and Pine Hill proudly supports this new and exciting initiative,” Hull commented.

Pine Hill has been around since 1966 and available in St Vincent and the Grenadines for almost 20 years. (RT)
