Word of this came from Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture Cecil Mc Kie, while speaking in the House of Assembly last Thursday, May 31.
Mc Kie was at the time responding to a question posed to him by Area Representative for South Leeward Nigel Stephenson.
McKie confirmed that the redo of the pavilion, which will include the installment of wash room facilities, will cost EC$400,000, and will be done in two phases.
The Minister also revealed that the work will be carried out by the Ministry of National Mobilisation in the upcoming months.
McKie admitted that the pavilion was indeed in need of some attention, and referred to it as an âeye soreâ.
The Campden Park Playing Field is the hub for many sporting activities in the South Leeward area.
The facility hosts national Football competitions, as well as the communityâs Football and Softball Cricket competitions, and is also used by the Bethel High School and the primary schools in the vicinity.
When the refurbishment is done, the pleas of many sportsmen, sportswomen and spectators, who have been calling for a more humane and sanitary appearance of the pavilion, will have been answered. (RT)
