Garifuna Stars wins two, loses one
Garifuna Stars won two matches last weekend and lost one, as the RBTT Bank National Womenâs T/20 Cricket Competition continued at the London Playing Field.{{more}}
On Saturday, host Garifuna lost to United Survivors by four wickets.
Batting first, Garifuna Stars were dismissed for 60. Juliana Nero topscored with 22. Bowling for United Survivors Clea Hoyte took 2 for 3 and Natasha John had 2 for 22.
In reply, United Survivors reached 61 for 6. Shevern Clarke hit 22 not out, to lead United Survivorsâ batting. Terisha Lavia 2 for 13 and Cordelia Williams 2 for 19, were Garifuna Stars most successful bowlers.
On Sunday, Garifuna Stars made amends, first, by defeating Tigress by four runs, then had the better of Rising Stars by 127 runs.
Terisha Lavia struck 36, to lead Garifuna Stars to 89 for 7 from their 20 overs.
Stacy Ann Adams snared 3 for 18 and Sheree Ann John had 2 for 13, bowling for Tigress.
At their turn, Tigress was restricted to 85 for 8 from their allotted 20 overs. Jean Blutcher hit 17, as Hazel Ann Foster with 2 for 6 and Terisha Lavia 2 for 13, led Garifuna Starsâ bowling charge.
West Indies player Juliana Nero scored 44, Mischa George hit 39 not out, Terisha Lavia 37 and Keisha Nero 22, as Garifuna Stars posted 182 for 4 from the maximum 20 overs.
Rising Stars in response were dismissed for 55, with Edelyn Turtin making 19. Bowling for Garifuna Stars, Juliana Nero took 2 for 5, and there were four dismissals by the run-out route.
Four matches are set for this Saturday and Sunday, all at the Arnos Vale Two Playing Field.
On Saturday, from 11:00 a.m., United Survivors face up Rising Stars, and from 2:00 p.m., Tigress takes on Rising Stars.
On Sunday, Ajuba and United Survivors are scheduled to meet from 10:00 am, to be followed by the encounter between Tigress and Ajuba from 2:00 p.m. (RT)
