OSCO are champions of the North Windward Netball tournament
The 2012 North Windward Netball tournament, which was hosted by the Owia Point Community Partnership Group (CPG), came to an end last Sunday in Owia.{{more}}
The tournament, which began on March 24, saw the participation of seven teams from Fancy, Sandy Bay, Orange Hill, and Owia.
First place went to the OSCO Team (Owia Sports and Culture Organization), second place to Trail Blazers (Owia team), and third place to the Fancy netball team. Individual awards were given for special recognition in the tournament with Fredseeker Bowens as Best Centre, Avonell Richardson as Best Defender, Breanna Laster for Most Goals.
The most disciplined team was Fancy, and the best dressed team was OSCO Team 2. The MVP of the tournament was Breanna Laster. The most valuable players of each team were named as well, with Chesca Baptiste for OSCO Team 1, Shannon King OSCO Team 2, Shevern Lewis Trail Blazers, Rossan King Fancy, Jessica Cato Sandy Bay, Rosalie John Orange Hill, Nikita Nanton Confidential Girls.
The North Windward Netball Tournament 2012 is an initiative of the Owia Point CPG to foster community spirit and pride.
The activity acknowledges the need for more organized sports in Owia and Point. The Owia Point CPG finds it important to provide the community members with spaces, whereby they can succeed and flourish as proud members of the community.
The Owia Point CPG wishes to thank all the teams for participating in this yearâs competition and would like to further give thanks to the sponsors, Director of Sports Nelson Hillocks and the Sporting Department and Daniel Cummings.
