Warriors on song in Bagga T/20
Hairoun Warriors recorded back-to-back victories last weekend in the National Lotteries Authorities Bagga T/20 Cricket Competition at the Keartons Playing Field.{{more}}
Firstly, on Saturday, the Warriors, led by David Toppin who made 34, got them to 105 all out in 16.4 overs. Garvin Davis bagged 3 for 16, bowling for Sunset who was then routed for 60 in 9.2 overs, as Warriors of 45 runs. Cuthbert Ashton picked up 3 for 19.
Warriors returned on Sunday to shock powerhouse Summerset by 32 runs.
Again, Warriors batted first. Marcus John scored 26 and Edson Gordon 25, as they were able to post 103 for 8 in 20 overs. Nelson Williams grabbed 3 for 29.
Summerset was never in the hunt and fell for 81. John Williams, with 20, was the main contributor, as David Toppin, Edson Gordon and Marcus John took two wickets apiece.
Also on Saturday, Circumstances stunned one of the fancied teams, Suprizers, by six runs in a close run-in. Circumstances had posted 85 for 9 in 20 overs. Omar Tucker and Christopher Trumpet made 19 each.
Handel Browne took 2 for 14 and Dillon Duncan had 2 for 16, bowling for Surprizers.
Dillon Duncan hit 20 as Suprizers got to 79 for 6 in 20 overs. Kenneth Samuel had 2 for 12 and Desrick Debique 2 for 15, bowling for Circumstances.
And, Hillview recorded their only victory of the season, defeating Sand Crab by 76 runs on Sunday in a Barrouallie derby. Hillview batted first and posted 128 for 6 in their 20 overs; Edison Williams struck 48.
Sand Crab was dismissed for 52, as Edison Williams completed a good all-round performance, taking 3 for 22, bowling for Hillview.
Another set of matches will be played this weekend at the same venue. (RT)
