Team Rivals get closer to repeat

Defending champions of the National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams T/20 Cricket Competition Team Rivals moved closer to a repeat of the title, with an emphatic 126-run win over Ruddy’s Electrical Unique Warriors at the London Playing Field on Sunday, thus putting them into the quarter finals.{{more}}

A 176-run opening stand between Hyron Shallow and Marvin Small laid the platform for Team Rivals’ total of 237 for 5, in their 20 overs. Shallow clobbered 95 and Small blasted 74.

In reply, Unique Warriors were restricted to 111 for 7. Christopher Campbell struck 32 and Leon Samuel 24. Orlanzo Jackson had 2 for 17.

Victors One, which has also lifted the title, defeated Bequia by seven wickets at Arnos Vale Two on Sunday afternoon. Bequia posted 110 for 9 off their 20 overs. Olanzo Billingy led the way with 34. Norlan Williams, 3 for 12, and Keron Cottoy, 2 for 21, bowling for Victors One, which then replied with 101 for 3. Atticus Browne crafted 46 not out.

Bequia also went under to Smashers by the same margin earlier in the day.

Bequia batted first and reached 123. Jenry Ollivierre made 67 not out. Marvin Harry bagged 4 for 23, and Nickron Mercury, 3 for 14.

Smashers responded with 124 for 3. Dominic Da Silva posted 55 not out, and Courtney Joyette, 34.

Like Bequia, Police One lost their two matches on Sunday at the Buccament Bay Playing Field.

First, they fell to ASCO by six wickets.

Police One got up to 159. Trevor Bailey struck 43. Elric Morris took 2 for 25, and Desron Maloney, 2 for 34.

ASCO’s reply was 162 for 4. Elton Williams made 37, Chris King, 26, and Nicos Davis, 25.

Then, Police One felt the wrath of Victors Two by 104 runs.

Denis Byam, 67, Kishore Shallow, 46, and Dawnley Grant, 44, all combined to see Victors Two to 229 for 7 from their 20 overs. Renford Samuel had 2 for 28, and Renrick Cato, 2 for 33, bowling for Police One, which at its turn was dismissed for 125. Renrick Cato topsored with 38.

Bowling for Victors Two, Damaul Phillips had 3 for 21, Kevin Abraham, 2 for 13, and Kishore Shallow, 2 for 40.

And, Police Two made sure that the law officers had an unsuccessful Sunday, as they, too, lost their match against Owia Stars at London.

Shem Browne lashed 46, Dean Browne hit 45, and Dwayne Nanton, 32, as Owia posted 193 for 6 from their 20 overs. Mohammed Lavia took 2 for 35, and Kenroy Martin, 2 for 58.

In reply, Police Two reached 155, to lose by 38 runs. Elron Lavia made 40.

Othneil Baptiste snared 4 for 20, and Glendon Gregg, 2 for 27.(RT)
