A 21-member team from that institution left here last Wednesday to participate in the Annual Barbados Relay Fair, tomorrow, February 11. The squad includes ten males, eight females, and three officials.

The team will participate in the Under-20 male and female divisions and will run in the 4 x 100m, 4 x 400m and the Medley Relay. The team is using this as a warm up for the TSSS Inter-House Meet, the Inter-School Heats and Sports and the Penn Relays.

The school will also use the Barbados trip to obtain American visas in order to compete in the Penn Relays, which is the school’s main focus. The Penn Relays, also known as the Penn Carnival, takes place April 26, 27 and 28 in Pennsylvania, USA.

TSSS participated at the Penn Relays for the first time in 2011 and won both their heats in the 4x100m and 4x400m Relays. That was the first time a Vincentian school participated at the event, which is more than 100 years old.

This year, the school will again make history, as they will, for the first time, take a female team along with the males.

The school is looking to carry at least thirteen athletes, seven females and six males, along with teachers of the school as officials.

The team has been in training since their success at the 2011 Inter- Secondary School Athletics Championships.

Coach of the TSSS Godfrey Harry, said he is quite pleased with the way in which both teams are shaping up.

The final team will be selected following the 2012 Inter- Secondary Schools Athletics Championship Finals, which are scheduled for March 29 at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.(RT)
