Police in defence of Knock-Out title

Defending champions of the Log Enterprises SVG Masters 20/20 Knock-Out Cricket Competition RSVG Police made a winning start to their defence of the title,{{more}} beating St Vincent Cooperative Bank P’tani by 20 runs at the Grammar School Playing Field on Sunday afternoon.

Police, on the back of 35 not out from Elvis Browne and 23 from Jeffrey Laborde, got to 153 for 9 from their 20 overs.

Pats Williams with 4 for 32 and Walford Ambris 2 for 36, were the best bowlers for P’ tani.

In response, P’tani was dismissed for 133. Pats Williams hit the topscore of 33.

Calvin Glasgow and Elvis Browne picked up two wickets each.

Joining Police in the next phase is Stubbs, who whipped Joyette’s Auto/Slater Development Pastures by 58 runs at Buccament on Saturday.

Dawnley Joseph 49 and Christopher Campbell 32, helped Stubbs to 134 for 5 from their allotment. Frederick Trimmingham took 3 for 10, bowling for Pastures, who at their turn stopped at 76 all out in 19.3 overs.

Livingston John 3 for 14 and Dawnley Joseph 2 for 17, gave Stubbs another shot at dethroning Police.

Also with such a chance is Sion Hill, who got the better of North Leeward, last Sunday morning at the Grammar School Playing Field.

North Leeward reached 148 all out off 19.3 overs, batting first. Walliston Stapleton 45, Kenneth Lewis 24 and Winston Skinner also hit 24. Bowling for Sion Hill , Ronald Medford took 3 for 4, Gary Rodriguez 3 for 23 and Augustine Victory 2 for 18.

Keyon Jack crafted 65 not out, Colbert Mc Donald 45 and Sylvester Vanloo 25 not out, carried Sion Hill to 150 for 3 in 18.4 overs, to win by seven wickets.

At Buccament on Sunday, Rudy’s Electrical Barrouallie devoured Bickles Fun Masters by 78 runs.

Barrouallie made 129 for 7 from their 20 overs, with David Porter leading the way with 53.

Godfrey Brewster snared 3 for 28, bowling for Bickles Fun Masters.

Leniff Hector had bowling figures of 3 for 16, as Bickles Fun Masters was dismissed for 51.

And, completing the teams to the next round, Log Enterprises Kingstown defeated Computec Belfongo by 36 runs also on Sunday at Buccament.

Kingstown, fresh from winning the 2011 league competition, made 106 all out. Sylvannus Morgan bagged 4 for 12, bowling for Belfongo .Rohan King and Samuel Holder grabbed two wickets each.

But Belfongo could only put 70 on the board, as Colin Shoy, Cornelius Springer, Bradley Brooker and Joseph Medford, each took two wickets.(RT)
