Jack: Cheap tickets for ODI cricket matches – Arnos Vale
Vincentians will not have to dig deep into their pockets when the three One Day International (ODI) Cricket matches are hosted here at the Arnos Vale Playing Field in March.{{more}}
President of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association Julian Jack disclosed at the Closing and Presentation Ceremony of the SVG Masters Cricket Competition last Sunday at the Grammar School Playing Field, that admission for the Double Decker Stand will be EC$10.
Jack further stated that the cost for a seat in the reserved areas, the Sir Phillip Veira Stand, the Frank Thomas and Michael Findlay Pavilions, will be between $30 and $40.
The West Indies plays Australia in the Digicel One Day Series Friday, March 16, Sunday, March 18 and Tuesday, March 20.
Jack said that the local association was able to negotiate such an offer with the West Indies Cricket Board.
Jackâs announcement was another welcome piece of news ahead of the three matches.
Last month, Minister of Transport and Works Julian Francis disclosed that central government is set to spend $600,000 on the Arnos Vale Sports Complex to spruce it up, inclusive of the Arnos Vale Playing Field and the adjoining Netball facility.
The Arnos Vale Playing Field became a venue for the hosting of One Day Internationals in February 1981, when the West Indies played England.
Since then, the venue has seen another 19 ODIs, between 1993 and 2010.
Of the twenty ODI matches played at Arnos Vale, the regional side has been triumphant in seventeen.
Thirteen of the wins were consecutive, spanning from 1994 to 2004.
Australia last visited St Vincent and the Grenadines in 2008, and was the first international outfit to be hosted at the Arnos Vale venue, after the upgrade which took place for warm-up matches ahead of the 2007 Cricket World Cup, which was played in the region.(RT)
