Young coaches make the difference

It is unusual to see coaches at Football matches here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines attired in jackets, long sleeve shirts, neck ties and the like.{{more}} However, at last Friday’s final of the Under-16 Division of the Coca Cola Secondary Schools Competition, that was the case.

The visibly “dressed” Physical Education teachers/ coaches, Chester Morgan and Rohan Thomas Jr., of the Central Leeward Secondary School and the St. Martin’s Secondary School, respectively, looked the part and represented a change from the norm of track pants, tee shirts and sneakers.

And, obviously, they caused a stir as persons attending the match were unaccustomed to such.

The duo’s look, though, was no coincidence, as both said that it was something they had discussed while studying from 2006 to 2011 in Venezuela.

The two admitted that they never knew it would have come to fruition so soon, having been employed at the respective institutions for only the past four months.

Morgan and Thomas are graduates of the Universidad Deporte Del Sur, formerly the Universidad Iberoamericana Del Deporte in Venezuela.

The former studied Sports Training with Specialisation in Football, with the latter a graduate in Sports Management and Technology.

But when the final whistle sounded, it was Morgan who maintained his smile, as his team triumphed 2-0, and retained the title. (RT)
