Making the course certain for Clinchers was a below par Glen United.

Fielding ten players, Glen was dismissed for an uncompetitive 69 in 19.5 overs. No batsman got into double figures, as Okeph Andrews, with 2 for 4, and Carlon John, 2 for 14, led the bowling statistics for Clinchers.

Oheyon Toby then made 23, as Clinchers posted 70 for 3 in 13 overs, and left the venue with the championship trophy and $1000 for their efforts. Glen pocketed $800 and a trophy.

The two set up their meeting the previous day, when they both won their semi final encounters without much effort.

Clinchers saw off Stallions by five wickets. Stallions was dismissed for 74. Okeph Andrews, 2 for 8, Kevin Harry, 2 for 15, Carlon John, 2 for 16, and Travis Cumberbatch, 2 for 17, shared the wickets for Clinchers.

Stein Joseph hit a quick fire 43, as Clinchers responded with 75 for 5.

In the other semi finals, Glen whipped Byera by 71 runs.

Batting first, Glen posted 144. Desron Maloney, 47, Hyron Shallow, 38 and Trevor Bailey, 25 not out, were Glen’s main contributors with the bat. Orlanzo Jackson took 2 for 36, bowling for Byera, which in turn was dismissed for 73. Byera was undone by the bowling of Desron Maloney who snared 4 for 4, Kerwin Browne, 3 for 8, and Dennis Bradshaw, 2 for 24.

Despite being the losing finalist, it was the players of Glen who carried away most of the individual awards.

Hyron Shallow scored the most runs, 144, as well as the highest individual score, 91. Shallow recorded the most sixes in the competition, a total of 16.

Rick King, also of Glen, had the most wickets in an innings, 7 for 13 versus Young Strikers.

Dillsworth Thomas of Stallions got the most wickets, 9, and had the most sixes in an over, as he struck 6 when his team met Bank of SVG All Stars. (RT)
