Local cricketers secure rewards

Those who excelled in the 2011 competitions staged by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association were given their rewards last Saturday evening when the organisation held its Annual Prize Giving and Awards Ceremony at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown.{{more}}

Alston Bobb captured the Zepton Greaves Award, as he was adjudged the Best All rounder.

Bobb, who plays for Victors One in the National Lotteries Authority / RBTT Premier Division, scored 213 runs at an average of 42.60, and bagged 41 wickets at an average of 6.54.

Bobb’s efforts helped Victors One lift the 2011 Premier Division title.

Recording the Best Batting Average was Drumo Toney of third placed OLA Boutique Radcliffe. Toney’s returns were 64.00 per innings.

Hyron Shallow of second place Rivals again won the Most Runs award, with his 342 runs, with Rolando Wright of Police Two capturing the Most Wickets, 43.

There were three centuries scored in the top division, recorded by Drumo Toney and Lauron Francois of Victors One and Dawnley Joseph of the News Spartans.

Alston Bobb and Javon Samuel of Victors Two, Deighton Butler of Rivals and Victors One’s Keiron Cottoy all took ten wickets in a match, with Bobb and Samuel doing so on two occasions.

National Lotteries First Division

Harley Skerritt of Rudy’s Electrical Unique Warriors had the highest aggregate of runs, 601, and the Best Batting average, 100.17 runs per innings.

Skerritt scored three centuries, with the others scoring triple figures being Rawdon Bentick and Ronald Scott, both of Smashers, who had two each; Omari Lorraine and Razine Browne of Owia Stars and Joelano Neil of the Neil Williams Academy, one apiece.

Marvin Harry of Smashers bagged the most wickets, 46, and Javed Cordice of Belmont United, the Best Bowling Average, 6.00 per wicket.

Marvin Harry, Isaac Trimmingham of Pastures, Augustus Mofford of Belmont United and Darren Russell of Smashers were the bowlers who captured ten wickets or more in a match. Trimmingham did the feat twice.

Joseph Medford of Log Enterprises Masters was the lone bowler who took seven or more wickets in an innings.

In the overall team awards, ASCO docked in first, Unique Warriors second and third was Smashers.

Under-15 Division

In the Glenroy “Hart” Durrant sponsored Zonal Under-15 Division, Kennia May of champions North Windward scored the most runs, 49.

The Most Wickets award went to Glenroy Jacobs of second place team, Marriaqua, for his 11 scalps.

Phelroy Ashton of North Windward copped the Best Batting Average with 41.00, and the Best Bowling Average was recorded by Shammon Hooper of North Leeward, for his 3.50 runs per wicket.

Lenson Spring of North Windward was voted the Most Valuable Player as he scored 42 runs and had nine wickets for 55 runs at an average of 5.11.

The players all received cash awards, with some getting trophies.

Dennisford Foster, the long standing President of ASCO, received the Dr. Kenneth Antrobus Award for his services to Cricket. (RT)
