RSVG Police rebounds in Masters Cricket

RSVG Police rebounded last Sunday, after their loss to Kingstown the previous weekend, to beat Henny Penny by 25 runs, at the Buccament Playing Field, as the SVG masters Cricket Competition continued.{{more}}

Police chalked up 103 for 6 off 20 overs. Gosnel Cupid struck 27, Oneil Thomas 23 and Parnel Browne 23 not out. Brent Baker took 2 for 11, bowling for Henny Penny.

In reply, Henny Penny was dismissed for 78. Parnel Browne 4 for 17, Elvis Browne 3 for 14 and Sigmond Allen 2 for 12, ensured the lawmen crossed the line.

Another of the competition’s favourites, Log Enterprises Kingstown, defeated Joyette’s Auto Slater Development Pastures by seven wickets on Sunday at Arnos Vale Two.

Pastures could only make 68 for 9 off 20 overs. Ardon Hall was the topscorer with 20. Colin Shoy and Hollis John took two wickets each.

Kingstown in their quest for another win rushed to 73 for 3 off 7.5 overs. Winston Springer 30 not out and Joseph Medford, 20 not out, were the lead batsmen.

Also on Sunday, at the Arnos Vale venue, Bequia Masters stopped La Croix Masters by 63 runs.

Bequia batted first and made 143 for 9 off their 20 overs, with Orson Ollivierre hitting 38 and Terrence MC Kree 20. Emroy Ollivierre took 3 for 27 and there were two wickets apiece for Benedict Phillips and Wendell Parris.

La Croix, in reply, made 80 all out. Burt Bowman, with 20, was the topscorer, as Brian Henry 3 for 7 and Calvin Hazell, Roland Ollivierre and Orson Ollivierre, who took two wickets each, formalised Bequia’s triumph.

At the London Playing Field also on Sunday, C.K.Greaves Vintage Arnos Vale Masters scraped past London by five wickets, but with only two balls to spare.

The home team compiled 137 for 5, from their allotted 20 overs. Brendon Child led the way with 48 and Carl Nero contributed 23. Bowling for Arnos Vale, Ezekiel Williams took 2 for 15.

Arnos Vale crossed the line at 139 for 5 in 19.4 overs. Monty Warner 55 and James George 51, scored the bulk of the runs. Winston Hoyte took 2 for 19, bowling for London.

On Saturday, North Leeward overcame Rudy’s Electrical Barrouallie Masters by four wickets off the last ball of the innings at Buccament.

Barrouallie scored 104 for 6 from their 20 overs, led by Lenniff Hector’s 29 and Selwyn Gould’s 21.

North Leeward responded with 105 for 6. William Edwards, who struck 46 not out and Reginald Jeffrey 26, were North Leeward’s main batsmen.

Bowling for Barrouallie, Samuel Byam had 3 for 22 and Nigel Fredericks 2 for 23.

Meanwhile, Stubbs had it all their way against Bickles Fun Masters at North Union.

Dawnley Joseph snared 3 for 11, bowling for Stubbs, as Bickles Fun Masters were bowled out for 40.

Stubbs responded with 41 for 1, with Christopher Campbell making 22 not out, to complete a nine-wicket win in the lopsided affair. (RT)
