Street Fighters standing their ground

Street Fighters chalked up back to back wins in the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation Softball Cricket T/20 Competition last weekend, as the competition saw a full complement of five matches at the Dauphine Playing Field.{{more}} Street Fighters first took out Dr. Thomas Injectors on Sunday morning.Street Fighters scored 126 for 8 from their 20 overs. Westrick Straugh made 26, Leroy Dalzine ,23, and Richie Richards, 21. Rornrick Daniel took 3 for 19, and there were two wickets apiece for Kimmique Allen and Tex Franklyn.

When Dr. Thomas batted, they were dismissed for 89. Richie Richards, 3 for 13. and Asif Hooper, 3 for 14, were Street Fighters’ best bowlers. Street Fighters then kept RSVG Police at bay, with a comfortable five wicket win. RSVG Police could only get to 63. Renrick Cato was the topscorer with 18, as Marvin Small grabbed 3 for 9 and Richie Richards and Stedrick Thomas both took two wickets each.Marvin Small then hit 23, and Kadier Nedd, 17, as Street Fighters got to 65 for 5. Rolando Wright took 2 for 15 for the lawmen. Joining Street Fighters in the winners’ circle was Mc’s East Bank, whICH beat Computec Older Boys by 39 runs. East Bank posted 153 for 9 from their 20 overs. Kevon Clarke hit 45 and Floyd Hull struck 31.Bowling for Older Boys, Urias King bagged 4 for 17, and Kevin Huggins, 4 for 31.

In their response, Older Boys got to 114. Aaron Bascombe led the way with 30. Kristoff St. John, 3 for 9, and Flloyd Hull, 3 for 15, were the principal wicket takers for East Bank.

Glen United also had it easy against LCK Shot Callers on Saturday. Shot Callers could only make 34. Ricky King, 3 for 5, and Wayne Garraway, 3 for 6, set up their team’s win in the first half of the match. Michael Duncan struck 26 not out, as Glen United rushed to 34 without loss. And, Sting Power Nice Radio Clinchers defeated Georgie Valley Saints by seven wickets. The Saints’ innings stopped at 84 in 19 overs. Johnatahn Conliffe with 18 and Kareem Cumberbatch, 14, were the lead batsmen. Peter Richards, 5 for 17, and Curlan John, 2 for 27, bowling for Clinchers. In reply, Clinchers made 85 for 3 in 11.2 overs, with Augustine Bentick making 34, and O’heron Toby, 19.

Another five matches are down for decision this weekend at the same venue. (RT)
