Victors One leads the pack
The race for the title of 2011 RBTT/ National Lotteries Authority Premier Division of the national programme is heating up, following last weekendâs results.{{more}}
Victors One and Rivals One are the teams jockeying for the top position, and both did themselves no harm last weekend with comfortable victories.
Victors One defeated Eat Rite Saints by wickets at Arnos Vale One. A lower order revival, engineered by Alston Bobb with 67, pushed Victors One to 159 all out. Lauron Francois was the next best batsman with 32.
The top bowler for Saints was the evergreen Walford Ambris, who grabbed 4 for 8, including a hat trick. Ray Charles took 3 for 61 and Kenroy Peters 2 for 28.
Saints was dismissed for 43 in reply, as Alston Bobb raked in 5 for 12, and Kieron Cottoy 3 for 18, ensured their team take the ascendancy.
Asked to follow on, Saints made 143. Rickford Walker made 47 and Zane Edwards 34.
Alston Bobb was again the pick of the bowlers, with 5 for 45 and Kieron Cottoy bagged 5 for 69.
Victors One reached 24 for 1, and gained maximum points, putting them to 84.
The other front runner, Rivals, made light work of Victors Two at Arnos Vale Two.
Victors Twoâs first innings was uprooted for 41, as fast bowler Kesrick Williams snared 4 for 7 and Olanzo Jackson had figures of 3 for 9.
Rivals One responded with 156 for 2, declared.
Hyron Shallow hit 78, made up of eight sixes and three fours and Nicholas Baptiste weighed in with 71 not out, which included nine sixes. Javon Samuel took the two wickets which fell for the cost of 57 runs.
Batting a second time, Victors Two fared marginally better, making 64. Olanzo Jackson with 6 for 25 and Deighton Butler with 2 for 6 had the win as easy as Sunday morning, last Sunday morning.
The win pushed Rivals to 76 points, eight fewer than Victors One.
The crucial match which could help determining the final outcome is the meeting between Victors One and last yearâs champions OLA Boutique Radcliffe.
