Lavia powers Toma Hawks to third straight title

Former St. Vincent and the Grenadines Under-19 player Desron Lavia powered a century, 168 not out to lead Sweetie Pie Bakery Toma Hawks to their third straight lien on the Mustique Twenty/20 Cricket Competition last Sunday afternoon.{{more}}

Lavia belted 17 sixes and 9 fours to several parts of the Mustique Playing Field, as he saw his team to 221 for 4, from their 20 overs. Lavia spared no mercy on the MIL- SOM Construction bowlers and was severe on Lorenzo Ellis, whom he blasted for 6 sixes in the tenth over.

It was Lavia’s second successive century, following up his 118 not out against Pink House TAGS the previous weekend.

Lavia’s knock was the highest ever in the history of the competition. Devrall James, 26, and 24 extras, assisted Tama Hawks in their carnage.

In response, the MIL-SOM Construction team’s innings did not have the momentum it needed, chasing in excess of 200, and they were restricted to 129 to 5, as Toma Hawks marched to an easy 92 run triumph.

Julian Lampkin topscored with 22. Toma Hawks best bowler was Caswell Dorset, who bagged 3 for 17.

The win for Toma Hawks was their 24th successive in the Mustique T/20 Cricket Competition.

Man of the Match Desron Lavia was named the Most Outstanding Player in the Competition, as he also took nine wickets to his runs tally.

Lavia added the awards for highest individual score in an innings and the highest aggregate of 475 runs to his trophy shelf.

Felix Greaves of third place Pink House TAGS snared the most wickets, 15. He, Leroy Alexander and Kishroy Young were awarded for taking five wickets in an innings.

The Most Improved Player was Roy Baptise of TAGS, who scored 197 runs and bagged seven wickets.

Fourth place team JAD was voted Most Disciplined Team, and Rock Masters was adjudged the Best Dressed Team.

Competition organisers awarded faithful umpires Leroy Alexander and Bryon Crosby for their tireless efforts. (RT)
