Hector makes it century number four

Donwell Hector hit his fourth century of the 2011 Brooklyn Cricket League (BCL) last Sunday when he plundered 161 not out for Middlesex against St. Lucia at Seaview.{{more}}

Hector, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Windwards middle order batsman, struck 26 fours and one six, to see Middlesex to 267 without loss.

Hector’s boundary-filled innings, which saw him hit fifty, was made in 20 balls, which included six consecutive fours in one over.

His opener partner, Mark Audain, made 93 not out, as Middlesex won by 10 wickets.

This was in reply to St. Lucia’s 266 for 5 from 31 overs, in which Victor Mangal stroked 71, Jacob Emmanuel made 55, and Jude Baptiste, 31. Mark Audain with 2 for 57 was Middlesex’s most successful bowler.

Sunday’s win was a bounce back for Middlesex, which was beaten the previous day by Challengers by two wickets at Marine Park B.

Middlesex batted first and made 173 for 8 from 35 overs. Mark Audain’s 40 proved to be the topscore. Bowling for Challengers, Fahad Magul took 3 for 14.

Challengers replied with 174 for 8. Extras contributed 48, and Mohamed Ali 43, as Middlesex lost form with both bat and ball.

Bowling for Middlesex, Lester Benn, 2 for 14, and Andre Kirton, 2 for 37.

Like Middlesex, it was one win, one loss for Cavaliers, also a Vincentian outfit.

Diplomats made an imposing 323 for 1 in 33 overs, to which Cavaliers replied with 110 all out in 25 overs. Former St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Windwards and West Indies fast bowler Cameron Cuffy topscored with 32.

Cavaliers, though, beat Brooklyn Stars by four wickets. Batting first, Brooklyn Stars was dismissed for 104. Bowling for Cavaliers, Ezekiel Williams bagged 4 for 15; Robelto Bynoe took 2 for 21, and Timothy Warner, 2 for 28.

Cavaliers response was 107 for 6. Abrar Zafar took 3 for 18.

The other Vincentian team with a win to its credit was Imperial, which beat Brooklyn Knights by eight wickets. Brooklyn Knights made 191 all out in 31 overs, with Kester Sylvester taking 3 for 39.

Imperial, in response, reached 196 for 2 in 27 overs. Foster Lewis, 75 not out, and Jason Williams, 50, were the main contributors with the bat. (RT)
