Cavalier beat Grenada in BCL
Cavalier flew the flag of St. Vincent and the Grenadines high, when they defeated the 2010 champions of the Brooklyn Cricket League (BCL), Grenada, at Marine Park A, last Sunday, June 5, in Broolyn, New York.{{more}}
Grenada, on invitation of their opponents, batted first and was dismissed for 103.
Ephraim Bacchus took 5 for 14, and former St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Windwards and West Indies fast bowler Cameron Cuffy took 2 for 14, and Timothy Warner, 2 for 28.
Cavalier lost five wickets before they reached the target of 104 for 5. Albert Tesheira, a former SVG and Windwards batsman, topscored with 48.
Also playing on Sunday, another Vincentian outfit, Middlesex, was in winnerâs row over Brooklyn Stars.
Batting first, Brooklyn Stars reached 168 for 9 from 32 overs. Waqaz Shah, 54. Bowling for Middlesex, Mark Audain finished with figures of 4 for 26, and Dominic Audain, 2 for 30.
Responding, Middlesex scored 169 for 4, Mark Audain hit 56 not out, Dominic Audain, 39, and current St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Windwards Islands player Donwell Hector contributed a quick 34, as Middlesex romped to a six wickets win.
Also playing this weekend were the two other Vincentian teams, Imperial and Queenbury, which unlike their other counterparts recorded defeats. Both lost to Shaheen.
