Smashers scrape home against Belmont
Smashers recorded the lone outright win in last weekendâs matches of the First Division of the national cricket programme.{{more}}
Smashers defeated Belmont United by two wickets at the Arnos Vale Two Playing Field.
Belmont was dismissed for 96, batting first. Anthony Charles was the chief wicket taker, with 5 for 39, and Marvin Harry chipped in with 3 for 35.
In reply, Smashers fell for 79. Ronald Scott struck 28, and Lauren Bentick, 24. The evergreen Augustus Mofford bagged 6 for 21.
Batting a second time, Belmont fared worse, making 76, with Marvin Harry again among the wickets with 5 for 24. Smashers reached the victory target of 94 for the loss of eight wickets.
Deptor Culzac struck 34, as Augustus Mofford picked up 3 for 45.
At the Stubbs Playing Field, Pastures Youths took first innings points from Rivals Two.
Julian Edwards posted a top score of 51, as Rivals Two made 121. Isaac Trimmingham was the main wicket taker for Pastures with 6 for 26.
Ozico Williams then blasted 88, including 11 sixes, as Pastures reached 130 in reply. Imran Smith took 6 for 56, and Valroy Pompey, 4 for 34.
Rivals Two second innings saw them making 138 for 9 declared, with Julian Edwards topscoring again with 31. Keroy Roberts bagged 6 for 32. At the close, Pastures was 48 for 1.
And, at the London Playing Field, Owia Stars gained first innings from Radcliffe Two.
Omarl Lorraine hit 39, Cosmus Hackshaw, 33, and Venkat Baptiste, 31, in Owiaâs 172. Jamal Durrant, 4 for 36, and Kareem Peters, 3 for 21, shared the bowling honours for Radcliffe Two, which responded with 160. Kenville Sam, 43, and Kareem Peters, 29, were the principal scorers.
Rawle Baptiste snared 4 for 51, and Glendel Gregg, 2 for 34.
Omarl Lorraine was 113 not out, Cosmus Hackshaw, 37, as Owia was 218 for 6 in their second knock. Kareem Peters and Renrick Peters took 3 for 56 and 2 for 37, respectively, bowling for Radcliffe Two. (RT)
