NLA to Sponsor SVGCA 1st Division Cricket Competition
The St.Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association announced on Tuesday, May 17, that it had reached an agreement with the National Lotteries Authority{{more}} in relation to the sponsorship of the national 1st Division Cricket Competition.
Under the sponsorship, the NLA will meet the costs of ground rentals and preparation, prize money, and any overtime costs due to the groundsmen of the National Sports Council.
The competition will now be called the NLA 1st Division.
President of the SVGCA Julian Jack has said that he is happy with the new relationship with the National Lotteries Authority, and added that this development will be good for the development of cricket in the state.
âA number of our young cricketers play in this competition, so this sponsorship is good for the gameâ Jack added.
The SVGCA President praised the Board of the NLA for being farsighted and progressive, by their decision to partner with his organisation in the further development of cricket in the state.
And the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NLA, Murray Bullock, says that this sponsorship is a continuation of the mandate of his organisation to support sports and culture in the nation.
Bullock says that the NLA wanted to be at the forefront of the drive to help revive cricket in St.Vincent and the Grenadines, and that the sponsorship of the 1st Division was all part of this development.
Officials of both organisations will embark on a marketing drive over the next two weeks to promote this sponsorship.
