Aussies get another beating
Defending champions in the Hairoun Beer Bequia T/20 Cricket Competition Knights Trading Aussies suffered their second defeat in this yearâs competition, going under to Village Apartments Port Elizabeth last weekend.{{more}}
Aussies, without some of their key players, only managed 103 from 15 overs. Dean Browne was the topscorer with 28. Bradley Brooker had figures of 3 for 19, and Aaron Friday, 2 for 32.
In response, Port Elizabeth reached 107 for 5 to win by five wickets. Aaron Friday led the run chase with 34 not out. Mischack Williams took 2 for 13, bowling for the Auusies.
Also recording a win last weekend was Admirality Youth Combine, which got past Combined Stars by 20 overs.
Youth Combine posted 205 for 8 from their 20 overs. Jenry Ollivierre hit 71, and Osborne John made 53. Bowling for Combined Stars, Collin Nelson took 3 for 38, and Romal Sargeant, 2 for 2.
Combined Stars, hoping for another upset, after their triumph over Aussies the previous weekend could not repeat their heroics, as they fell for 185. Captain Garfield Sargeant led his teamâ s batting with 55, Alrick Pompey made 25, and Glenroy Charles, 22. Ellis Lavia, 3 for 27, and Mc Neil Morgan, 3 for 39, were the lead bowlers for Youth Combine.
And, Manicou defeated South Side United by seven wickets.
Sunil Ambris with 25 was the topscorer in South Sideâs total of 93. Bowling for Manicou, Twon Richards bagged 5 for 18, Godwin Friday, 2 for 4, and Clive Walker, 2 for 23.
Twon Richards then made 27, as Manicou got to 97 for 3. Ken Compton took 2 for 27 for South Side United.
Another three matches are to be decided this weekend at the Clive Tannis Playing Field.
On Saturday, from 2pm, Carib Stars face off with United, and on Sunday, from 9:30 am, Combined Stars meet Bequia Express West Side Knockers, and from 1:30 pm, Youth Combine faces Dâ Graduates.(RT)
