RSVG Police retain NLA Bagga T/20 title
RSVG Police retained the National Lotteries Authority Bagga T/20 Softball Cricket Competition, when they defeated Valley Boys by 22 runs last Sunday afternoon, at the Keartons Playing Field.{{more}}
The lawmen batted first and posted 116 for 7 from their 20 overs. Trevor Bailey topscored with 26, Roderick John hit 18 and Renrick Cato was 15 not out.
Bowling for Valley Boys, Randolph Bascombe took 3 for 37 and Romel Jack 2 for 24.
Valley Boys, after being 56 without loss, ended on 94 for 7, from their 20 overs. Justin Stapleton made 31, Kevin Abraham 18 and Randolph 16 not out. Bowling for Police, Renford Jack took 3 for 16 and Elmore Alexander 2 for 25.
It was sweet revenge for Police, who had suffered at the hands of Valley Boys, in the preliminary round of the competition.
The meeting between the two finalists had been set up on the previous day, Saturday, when both were engaged in semi-final action.
Police got past Glen United by five wickets in a low scoring affair. Glen made 45 for 9. Demeris Daniel, 3 for 12, Elmore Alexander, 2 for 9 and Renford Jack 2 for 12, did the damage with the ball for the police officers.
In reply, Police reached 50 for 5, Alexander being the main contributor with a score of 13. Desron Maloney picked up 2 for 16, bowling for Glen.
Also on Saturday, in the other semi-final, Valley Boys recorded a four wicket win over Suprizers.
Taking first strike, Suprizers went tumbling for 44 in 15 overs. Ronel Jack snared 4 for 6, Randolph Bascombe 2 for 4 and Justin Stapleton 2 for 13, bowling for Valley Boys, who responded with 45 for 6. Romano John led the way with 15 not out, and Neville Williams got 2 for 8, bowling for the losers.
