Questelles Government School 10/10 Interhouse Cricket Competition bowls off
Questelles Government School commenced its 10/10 limited overs Interhouse Cricket Competition on Monday, May 9, at 3:15 pm on the hard court.{{more}} This tournament was in a Round Robin format; that is, each team played every other; and it took place on the Questelles Hard Court, from 3:15 pm, from Monday to Thursday.
In the first match Marshall House ran rings around Thomas House, defeating them by 8 wickets. Thomas House won the toss and elected to bat. They batted out the 10 overs, amassing a meager total of 26 runs and losing 4 wickets. Jaheed Thomas top scored with 14 runs. At their turn at the crease, Marshall House was able to overhaul this total in 6 overs, losing only one wicket; they made 32 runs. Kevin Myers top-scored with 14 runs, with Ronaldo Bowens on a fast track with 11 runs.
In the second game, played between Wallace and Griffith, Griffith house defeated Wallace house by 8 wickets. Winning the toss and electing to bat, Walllace house posted a total of 30 runs, losing only 3 wickets; Jeante Samuel top-scored with 17 runs. This low total was no threat to the Wallace House batsmen, who easily overhauled this total in just 6 overs. Benroy Williams hit 3 massive sixes and a four to top score with 24 runs and cement a victory for his team.
In the third match, Wallace House, batting first, posted a challenging total of 46 runs, the highest in the competition. Joshua Ackie and Jeante Samuel were the top scorers with 25 and 19 respectively. At their turn at the crease, Thomas House could only muster 29 off their ten overs, losing 4 wickets in the process.
In the fourth match between Griffith and Marshall, Griffith continued its winning ways, beating Marshall House by just 8 runs. Griffith House, batting first, made 33 runs off their allotted overs, losing 5 wickets; with Giovarnie Joseph top-scoring with 25 runs. When it was Marshallâs turn at the crease, their opening pair scored very slowly, amassing 20 runs from 8 overs. The next 2 overs only realized 2 more runs. Nikel Joseph, in a losing effort, top scored for his team with 15 runs.
In the final round of matches, Marshall House beat Wallace House by 3 runs and Griffith House defeated Thomas House by 9 wickets. In the first, match Marshall House, batting first, was only able to muster a meager total of 22 runs, with Kevin Mayers top-scoring with 12 runs. This, however, proved a difficult number for Wallace House to overhaul, as they were bowled out for 18 runs. The second match was also a low-scoring one with Thomas House batting first and making 28 runs; top scorers were Jaheed Thomas, who made 14 and Yafa Douglas who made 13. Griffith House made light work of this total in just 3 overs, with Giovarnie McIntosh and Benroy Williams making 16 and 15 respectively.
Griffith House was the overall winners of the competition, winning all 3 games and Wallace House came in second, being successful in 2 out of its 3 games. Both first and second place winners received cakes for their prizes, compliments Debbie Bailey and Youverne White. Appreciation is also expressed to scorer Dione Abraham, Questelles School Sports Committee Chairman Vigsnath Douglas and the students who cheered on their teams.
