Two Vincentians make Windwards U-15 Cricket team
Two Vincentians have made the Windward Islands Under-15 Cricket team to the 2011 West Indies Cricket Board Tournament, which is likely to be staged in Trinidad and Tobago in July.{{more}}
The two making the final cut in the 14-man squad are Gidron Pope and Anson Latchman.
The selection of the two was the only consolation for St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the Windwards Under-15 competition, which was completed in Dominica last week Thursday.
Pope, who was the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Captain, and Latchman, his under study, were not able to see their team to better than last place in the four island competition.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines completed their six matches with a solitary win against the host in the first round.
Grenada played unbeaten in the competition, with twelve points from six wins. Dominica was second with six points, and the 2009 winners St. Lucia totalled four points.There was no competition in 2010.
Champions Grenada accounted for five picks in the Windwards 14, including team captain, Roland Cato, as well as Melvin Gordon, Craig Phillips, Deron Hypolite and Daryl Cyrus.
The St. Lucians selected are Valange St. Ange, who has been named Vice Captain, along with Tonius Simon, Levaughn Clarcai and Selwyn Boyce.
Chad Phillips, Shane Lewis and Kyle Cabey are the Dominicans in the team.
Selectors also listed four reserves in Vincentian Dominic Da Silva, Grenadian Keville Chance, Dominican Kimron George and Quint Mesaon of St. Lucia.
