The dayâs activities will be preceeded by a march at 9:30 a.m. of past and present students, cheerleaders and well-wishers, grouped by House, from the schoolâs compound to the Victoria Park.
The March will have musical accompaniment from the RSVG Police Band and the CW Prescod Primary School Bom Drum.
At the Victoria Park, a brief Opening Ceremony and a March Past of the four competing houses – Grimble, Headmistress, Moffett and Staff are also planned.
Chairperson of the Organising Committee for the Sports Day, Mavis Findlay-Joseph, told SEARCHLIGHT that the major objective of the event is to pull all the generations of the Girlsâ High School together in one setting for a day of fun.
âIt is a good opportunity for the older ones to be among the middle aged and also with the present student bod. It is a time for just that mother-daughter moment, as it is also a way of bridging the generation gap, as we donât often get the opportunity to gather in a fun wayâ, Findlay-Joseph said.
Findlay -Joseph stated that the dayâs activities, too, are tailored to involve all age groups, and said it is fashioned in such a way as to maximise participation from as many students past and present of the institution.
Findlay-Joseph said that Sports Day is timed so that persons can come at the times most convenient to them and participate.
She is expecting a fun filled day, given the range of events listed and is urging the general public to give their support.
