CKDO presents prizes to winners
The second Central Kingstown Development Organisation (CKDO) Intervillage Tournament, which took place in Redemption Sharpes and Green Hill came to an end in March 2011.{{more}}
A presentation was held at Victoria Park on April 14 to mark the closing of the tournament.
Champions of the League, Montrose United, received the winners cup, The National Lotteries Cup and prize money of $1000. The Tournament was sponsored by the National Lotteries Authority. Presentations were made by Anthony Dennie of the National Lotteries Authority.
The Chaiman of CKDO and the football committee Leroy Rock in a release said that the tournament was a challenging one with politics, general elections and Christmas falling in the same time period as the tournament. He also said it was a difficult year in general for sports in the Redemption Sharpes area.
Rock said the group, along with the Sharpes Educational Sports and Cultural Organisation, SESCO, plans to focus on capacity building of sports personnel with training of referees and coaches.
âWe have already spoken to the General Secretary of the Football federation. There was a need for a football competition and that need is being met right now by other organisations, so for the next few years, our focus will be on capacity building and strengthing of of our organisation,â the release said.
