Butler replaces Bramble
Deighton Butler, the former St. Vincent and the Grenadines Windwards and West Indies fast bowler, has been co-opted by the St.Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association{{more}} as a member of the National Executive, with effect from April 19, 2011.
Butler replaces Committee Member Andrew Bramble.
Bramble was elected at the SVGCAâs Annual General Meeting held on Saturday, February 12, this year.
The constitution of the SVGCA states that a memberâs position on the Executive becomes vacant if he or she misses three consecutive ordinary meetings of the SVGCA.
Butler had contested for a position as a committee member at the last annual general meeting of the SVGCA, but was unsuccessful. He garnered 22 votes in the run-off among Bramble, Calvin Glasgow, Kenroy Martin, Cecil Charles, Samantha Lynch, Cleton Burnett and Genita Lewis. Butler was subsequently selected from among a list of persons who were considered for the vacancy.
President of the SVGCA Julian Jack, in a release, said that Butler will bring years of cricketing experience to bear on the plans of the Association, particularly as these affect the development of Under-15 and Under -19 Cricket in the state.
Butler attended his first meeting of the SVGCA on April 19, 2011.
