Hackshaw blazes first century in Bequia T/20

Cosmus Hackshaw scored the first century of the 2011 Hairoun Beer Bequia Twenty/20 Cricket Competition at the Clive Tannis Playing Field in Bequia last Sunday.{{more}}

Hackshaw, also an accomplished basketballer, played a captain’s knock of 112 not out, as he piloted West Side Knockers to 255 for 4. Hackshaw was supported by Neil Baptiste who made 83. Arson Ollivierre was D-Graduates’ most successful bowler, taking 2 for 38.

D-Graduates in response made 155. Olanzo Billingy top-scored with 68.

Neil Baptiste putting in a good all-round performance took 3 for 39. Desbert Yorke took 2 for 4, and Nathaniel Williams grabbed 2 for 15, bowling for West Side Knockers.

On Saturday, Port Elizabeth beat Silver Strugglers by three wickets. Batting first, Silver Strugglers posted 188 for 8 from their 20-overs; Adinol Richards slammed 61, Glenroy Charles contributed 37, and Toriyan Tannis, 28.

Jeremy Francis grabbed 3 for 22, Ferdinand Friday took 2 for 34, and Lionel Lewis had 2 for 49 bowling for Port Elizabeth.

Port Elizabeth made 190 for 7 with 2.1 overs to spare, as Keithroy Lavia hit 51 and Les Malcolm scored 50. Umar Tucker had figures of 2 for 31, and Adinol Charles, 2 for 47.

Youth Combine beat Manicou by 113 runs in Sunday’s first encounter. Youth Combine posted 206 for 8 off 17.3 overs, playing with 10 men.

Hyron Shallow cracked 96, and Jenry Ollivierre hit 30.

Carlos Mitchell, 2 for 32, Cleus Cato, 2 for 36, and Clive Walker, 2 for 46, were among the wickets for Manicou.

Manicou was sent tumbling for 91. Delroy Gregg was the chief wicket-taker with 3 for 24, Garvin Ollivierre had 2 for 7, and Jenry Ollivierre, 2 for 10.

And, West Side Knockers defeated D-Graduates by 100-runs in Sunday’s other fixture.

Another three matches are scheduled to be played this weekend at the Clive Tannis Playing Field.

United will face Rudy’s Electrical in Saturday’s lone game from 2 pm, while Admiralty Transport Youth Combine will meet Village Apartments Port Elizabeth from 10 am on Sunday, and later at 2 pm, defending champions Knight’s Trading Aussies will take on Carib Stars. (RT)
