The event, which comes on the heel of its inaugural Junior Tournament in December 2010, would run until April 2.

The Tournament will be staged at the home of the Grassroot Tennis Club, the Haddon Tennis Facility at Murray’s Road, with its distinctive blue courts.

An opening ceremony is planned for this Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.

It is expected that several young players will seek to capitalize on the opportunity to get some competition under their belt.

A release from the Grassroot Tennis Club states that the competition is for all young tennis players in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Organizers are anticipating close to 100 participants for the one week tournament, given the success of the Christmas exercise.

The age categories are Under-6, Under-8, Under-10 and Under-12, for both boys and girls.

The registration details can be found in last Friday’s issue of SEARCHLIGHT or at the Grassroot Tennis Club’s base.

Thursday, March 24,will mark the closing date for entries to the tournament.

The Tournament director is Onike Spann and the referee is Kyle Albert.

The Grassroot Tennis Club has been operational for just over one year. (RT)
