Peters Named NAIA Scholar Athlete
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has named Greg Peters of Belmont, St. Vincent, as a 2011 student-athlete.{{more}}
Peters, a student at Northwest University in Seattle, Washington, USA, is one of 114 Division II Menâs Basketball student-athletes who have been named 2011 Daktronics – NAIA Scholar-athletes.
In order to be nominated by an institutionâs head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
Peters, who earned the honour for the second straight year, is the son of James and Melena Peters of Belmont and is one of 11 children. Peters was also named to the All-CCC Academic team for the winter of 2010-11 earlier.
Greg just returned with his teammates from the NAIA Division II Menâs Basketball National Championships held in Branson, MO. Peters led his team in scoring, rebounding, and blocked shots as the Eagles finished with a 21-9 season record and tied for third place in the Cascade Conference.
