The tournament is expected to take place here on March 9.

Andrew Smith, CEO of Procure it Direct, the procurement arm of Harlequin and Buccament Bay Resorts, presented the uniforms to Jacqueline DeFreitas, President of the St.Vincent and the Grenadines Rugby Union, on Tuesday, February 22, at the Buccament Bay Resort.

He said rugby is an up and coming sport in St.Vincent and the Grenadines and his organization is pleased to be able to help with its progress and development.

DeFreitas thanked Smith for the donation on behalf of the Union. She said it will be very useful in its tournament against the British Virgin Islands.

Captain of the St.Vincent and the Grenadines Rugby Team Phillip Alvis told Smith the new kit will come in handy, because the previous uniforms were ruined.

He said the team is looking forward to playing in them with a lot of pride and honour, as it strives to win the competition.

He added that his team might not be able to give a lot to Procure it Direct, but its members are hoping to play with pride and joy, as well as deliver a win.

The St.Vincent and the Grenadines Rugby Union has been in existence since January 18, 1998.

The organization recently held its general elections and DeFreitas was re-elected President, unopposed. This is her fourth time as President.

Some other members elected to the executive are Phillip Alvis, First Vice President; Kelly Glass, Second Vice President; and Leonard Matthews, Treasurer.
