SVGTA closes off its 2010 calendar

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tennis Association closed off its 2010 calendar last Tuesday, December 28, with the Closing Ceremony of its Christmas National Junior Tennis Championships at the National Tennis Centre at Villa.{{more}}

Making the honours roll were the regular participants on the Junior Tennis circuit here.

Khamisi Bascombe won the Boys 10’s Singles, as he beat Dejeante Simmons 6-1 in the final.

Taking the Boys 12’s Singles crown was Sebastian Cyrus over Alexander Cyrus. In the Girls 12’s Singles final Chelsea Haslam over-powered Denee Lyttle 4-0, 4-0.

Akeem Guy took the Boys 14’s at the expense of Richard Akcaycl. Among the Girls in that age group, Chelsea Haslam added another title, again pushing Denee Lyttle to the second spot, beating her this time, 4-2, 4-2.

In the Boys 16’s Singles, the winner was Rafai Bentick, as he took out Jonathan Perry 6-1, 6-1.

Halima Michael was the winner of the Girls 16’s singles, thus, placing Olivia Haslam second.

In the Girls 18’s Singles, Michelle Gun-Munro took the title, as Olivia Haslam settled for the second place.

The Boys 14’s Doubles saw the duo of Zachary Williams and Akeem Guy triumphing over Sebastian Cyrus and Richard Akcaylcl 4-1, 4-2. In that same age group, but among the Girls, the Doubles winners were Chelsea Haslam and Roberta Haslam over the biological pair of twins, Denee Lyttle and Luka Lyttle. The Haslams won 0-4, 4-1, 4-0.

The Boys Doubles 18’s was secured by Jonathan Perry and Fabrice George, 6-2, 6-2, having beaten Cody Ince and Chad Francis.

The Under 12 Most Improved Player went to Keshawn Butcher. Doing so in the Under 14 was Richard Ackcaycl, with the Under 18’s Most Improved Player going to Cody Ince .

The much sought after Challenge Trophy for overall sportsmanship and deportment went to Chelsea Haslam. (RT)
