Dorsetshire Hill Soft Ball Cricket Competition climaxes
The 2010 SVGTV/ Log Enterprises Dorsetshire Hill Soft Ball Cricket Competition came to a fitting climax last weekend at the Dorsetshire Hill Playing Field.{{more}}
The weekend of excitement began on Saturday, October 9, when Next Level trounced Allstars and ASCO got pass Police in the two (2) Semi – Final games.
In the third place playoff of the loosing Semi – Finalists, it was Police who got the upper hand of Allstars. Police batted first and struggled to 73 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs with their batsmen getting into double figures and highest score of 18.
Allstars struggled even more than the Lowmen and could only manage a meager 41 all out.
In the final game of the 2010 Tournament ASCO successfully defended their score of 133 all out in 17.2 overs eventually winning by 19 runs. Oswald Soleyn top scored with 36 runs, while Oleve Andrews supported with 23 and Vernado Primus, 20. Deptor Culzac was the best bowler on show for Next Level, with 2 for 15. Culzac also stared with the bat top scoring with 45 in his teamâs total of 114 all out. Kevin Jessop was the only other score by merit of Vernado Primus, 3 for 12, and Stein Joseph, 3 for 18, were the leading bowler for ASCO.
The presentation ceremony followed the final game with individuals and teams awarded with attractive prizes.
The organizing committee thanked the National Sports Council and the Gibson family for assisting with the fieldâs upkeep, the Umpires and Scorers for their commitment and the Sponsors SVGTV, Log Enterprises, National Lotteries Authority and LIME for their financial input and provision of incentives.
This was the first year of the revived Dorsetshire Hill Soft Ball Cricket Competition under new management and after and absence of two years. The organizing committee was headed by Michael Duncan -Chairman, Norbert Mofford and Felix Greaves- members and Senator Cecil Mc Kie as Advisor.
