Stapleton hits a century

Walliston Stapleton hit the first century of this year’s Masters T/20 Cricket Competition, when he powered his way to 101, to set the platform for Ajuba against North Leeward, in a derby, at the Petit Bordel Playing Field, last Saturday.{{more}}

Stapleton’s innings set Ajuba to 179 for 7 off their 20 overs. Orville Franklyn took 3 for 25, bowling for North Leeward.

Franklyn then hit 83, as North Leeward scored 180 for 8, with three balls to spare. Winston Skinner and Herbert Williams both scored 21, to help North Leeward over the line. Federal Jeffrey took 3 for 61 and Jamal Jeffrey, 2 for 19.

Ruddy’s Electrical Barrouallie defeated Buccament by 23 runs. Barrouallie fell for 115 off 14 overs. Nigel Frederick made 32 and Alban Bulze, 27. Reynold Neil and Reynold Hamilton took three wickets each.

Buccament could only make 92 for 9, with Conrod Jack topscoring with 41. Ian Allen picked up three wickets.

In a high scoring match, Police defeated Dasent Cottage by 54 runs.

Police, on the back of 96 from Oneil Thomas and 86 not out by Gosnel Cupid, scored 230 for 2 off 20 overs. Dasent Cottage replied with 176 for 3 off 20 overs. Rohan McLean struck 70 not out, Zenus Samuel, 45 not out, and James George ,39, in a spirited effort.

Meanwhile, defending champions Log Enterprises Kingstown rebounded to beat Joyette’s Auto/Slater Development Pastures on a faster scoring rate.

Pastures struggled to 68 for 9 off their 20 overs. Joseph Medford took 3 for 9. Cameron Cuffy and Cornelius Springer took two wickets each. Kingstown Masters reached 43 for 2 off 8.2 overs. Joseph Carrington 20 not out.

Also C.K Greaves Vintage Arnos Vale got past SVG Co-operative Bank Ptani by 18 runs.

Arnos Vale totalled 151 for 7 off 20 overs. Monty Warner hit a topscore of 38 and Ted Roberts, 34.

P’tani reached 133 for 7, from their allotment. Jerome Samuel was the main contributor with 46, and Augustus Mofford, 37, as Elson Crick bagged 4 for 18.

Tasting victory also was Stubbs, which defeated Computec Belfongo by 30 runs.

Stubbs posted 129 for 6 off 14.4 overs. Dawnley Joseph contributed 61 and Christopher Campbell, 41.

Samuel Holder was the pick of the Belfongo bowlers with 3 for 17 and Wendell Glasgow took 2 for 5.

Belfongo was all out for 99. Tommy King hit 24. Dawnley Joseph put in a good all round effort taking 3 for 28.

And, London defeated Sion Hill by 78 runs. London reached 177 for 6 off 20 overs.

Lauren Baptiste hit his third successive half century 67. Brendon Child contributed 38 and Osborne Jordon, 30. Sylvester Vanloo took 2 for 18 for Sion Hill, which at its turn got to 99 for 8 off its 20 overs.

Sylvester Vanloo hit a topscore of 33, as Vernon Da Souza took 3 for 19, while Alphonso Cato and Vernon John got two wickets each, and ensured a win for the home team. (RT)
