Foyle lands Magic Managerial role
Less than one month after announcing his retirement from the NBA, this countryâs first and only player in that league, Adonal Foyle has landed a job with the Orlando Magic, the team he spent his last three seasons with.{{more}}
Foyle was last Tuesday named as the Director of Player Development.
In his role, Foyle will provide support for the overall development of the players, act as a conduit between players and management, and give assistance to the basketball operations department.
Last July, when SEARCHLIGHT interviewed Foyle, he stated that after retiring, he would like to become a team manager.
He spent the 2009-2010 season on the bench, recuperating from a knee surgery. There he said he was able to see the operations of the players and management and garner experience.
Apart from this, Foyle is the First Vice President of the National Basketball Players Association.
Currently in pursuit of his Masters Degree in Sports Psychology, Foyle who started his professional career in 1997, spent ten years with the Golden State Warriors, until moving to the Magic in 2007.
With the Warriors, Foyle became their all-time leader in blocked shots with 1,140. He is also fifth on their all-time list for offensive rebounds and sixth for defensive rebounds.
In 733 career NBA games, including 269 starts, Foyle had career averages of 4.1 points and 4.7 rebounds.
Foyle, 35, formally announced his retirement August 17. (RT)
