Kingstown beaten in Masters Cricket

Log Enterprises Kingstown, the defending champions of the national Masters 20/20 Cricket Competition, was upstaged last Sunday at Stubbs by another former winner, Police.{{more}}

But it took a mere one run to separate both teams.

Gosnel Cupid, 88 not out, Jeffrey Laborde, 47 not out, and Oneil Thomas, 30, combined to push Police to 168 for 1 from their 20 overs.

Kingstown made a spirited reply, but still fell short, reaching 167 for 7, also from their 20 overs.

Hollis John topscored with 33, and Bradley Brooker and Joseph Medford both made 24. Cupid, Laborde and Thomas, had two wickets each, bowling for Police.

But it was easier for North Leeward, which beat Buccament by six wickets.

Herbert Williams took 3 for 12 for North Leeward, as Buccament was dismissed for 75. North Leeward then reached 77 for 4. Orville Franklyn led the way with 33. Osbert Young had 2 for 34, bowling for Buccament.

Also on Sunday at Buccament, Joyette’s Auto/Slater Development Pastures Masters defeated Ajuba Masters by five wickets.

Ajuba reached 112 for 7 off 20 overs. Jamal Jeffrey hit 23 and Conrad Ryan, 22, as Ezekiel Trimmingham took 2 for 18.

Pastures replied with 115 for 5 wickets. Robert Hackshaw led the way with 38 and Ardon Hall hit 27. Wallis Stapleton took 3 for 14.

At the Clive Tannis Playing Field in Bequia, the host lost both matches, going under to Stubbs and CK Greaves Vintage Arnos Vale.

Stubbs, on the back of 73 from Dawnley Joseph, and 24 not out from Samuel Williams, saw Stubbs posting 153 for 4 off 15 overs. Ellis Lavia took 3 for 31, bowling for Bequia.

The home team fell short by 17 runs, as they reached 136 for 8 off their 15.

Sheffon Cordice and Erickson Browne made 32 and 22, respectively. Carlos Andrews took 3 for 20, with Dawnley Joseph and Godfrey Brewster taking two wickets each.

Also, Arnos Vale got past Bequia by six runs.

Arnos Vale piled up 181 for 7 from 20 overs. Mc Neil Morgan hit 39 and Steve Gibson, 34. Arson Ollivierre picked up 4 for 46.

In reply, Bequia was dismissed for 175. Sheforn Cordice hit 58 and Elvis John 43. Elson Crick, 4 for 33, and Mc Neil Morgan, 2 for 22, bowling for Arnos Vale.

And, at London, Computec Belfongo Masters defeated London Masters by eight wickets

London Masters 118 all out. Lauren Baptiste struck 69. Sylvanus Morgan snared 4 for 20, bowling for Computec Belfongo, which responded with 122 for 2. Elton Williams, 42 not out, Wendell Glasgow, 31 not out, and Peter Campbell, 28, ensured victory.
