This international event enhances SVGâs sports tourism as it attracts close to two hundred visitors to SVG each year and is the fourth consecutive year which the SVGTA will host this event.
This year represents a significant milestone for Junior Tennis in St. Vincent & the Grenadines as more Vincentian players will participate in the 2010 SVGTA ITF than any other single ITF event ever, and will have the opportunity to become internationally ranked by the ITF.
The National Tennis Centre in Villa, venue for this SVGTA international event, was donated by the Taiwanese government in 2000. The six-court facility, built to international standards, serves as an ideal setting for development of the individual player from beginner to advanced levels. Spectators will be treated to the highest levels of international junior Tennis each day. The tournament will conclude on Saturday, August 21.
The SVGTA wishes to congratulate all participating Vincentians, visiting junior Tennis players and ITF Officials who continue to make this event memorable. The SVGTA sincerely hopes Vincentian junior tennis players will leverage their tennis skills and international rankings to earn scholarships to higher education in the future. Many players have benefitted from such scholarships in the past few years. The SVGTA is committed to supporting these initiatives and is grateful to its sponsorsâ continued involvement Tennis.
