Cavaliers hits a snag in BCL
Cavaliers, the main Vincentian title hopeful in the Brooklyn Cricket League, hit a speed bump in their latest outing, losing to Challengers, to be on nine wins and three losses.{{more}}
Challengers made 201 for 9 in 35 overs. Ezekiel âSportsâ Williams, 4 for 22, and Cameron Cuffy, 3 for 39.
Cavaliers replying, reached 197 for 7, in 35 overs.
Albert Texeria, 69, and Orlanzo Mofford, 41, were the main contributors for Cavaliers.
But making amends for the Vincentians was Imperial who beat Jinnah. Jinnah scored 196 for 7 in their allotted 35 overs. Juva Afridi hit 87. Andy Douglas took 2 for 28.
Imperial rallied to 199 for 8 in 33 overs. Orien Bostic struck 95 and Devane Warner 33 not out, saw Imperial to a two wickets win.
Middlesex, another Vincentian team, recovered from 53 for 5, to reach 176 off 37 overs. Mark Audain topscored with 35. Patrick Atkinson 28 and Rob Michael and Chandrapaul Roopnarine both scored 27. Daniel Alexander 3 for 24 and Kelly Payne 3 for 40.
Grenada too was in trouble early into the game, at 54 for 4, however a 124 fifth wicket partnership between Captain Gregory âBladeâ Anthony 71 not out and Clarence Peters 41 also not out, took the Grenadians safely to a six wicket victory. Daren Dennis had 2 for 34.
But Queeenbury enjoyed its best showing in this their debut season.
Diplomats took first strike and scored 218 runs. Iva Martin took 2 for 47 and Gregory Blair 2 for 50.
Queenbury was 78 for 9, but a remarkable innings by Andre Mc Carthy took Queenbury to 208.
Mc Carthy made166, which included 22 fours and 2 sixes.
Francis Mendonca bagged 7 for 30, as Queenbury lost by 10 runs.
And in an all Vincy clash, Middlesex faced Queenbury, but it was Mc Carthy who again stole the show, as he made 194 not out, in Queenburyâs total of 266 for 9. Mc Carthy struck 13 fours and 9 sixes.
This was in reply to Middlesexâs 269 for 9, of which Jacob Emmanuel made 70 and Joseph Ledwridge 65.
Bruno Henry had 3 for 44, Kiran Cuffy 2 for 38 and Abdul Syed 2 for 36.
Mark Audain 2 for 47, Daren Denis 2 for 49, to ensure Middlesex eek out a three-run win.(RT)
