Windwards Under-19 cricketers charge forward
The Windward Islands Under-19 cricketers have put themselves in the pole position at the end of series three of the TCL group of Companies Challenge Tournament taking place in St. Lucia.{{more}}
The Windwards recorded a seven wicket win over Guyana to head to 21 points, going into todayâs fourth round match against the defending champions, Jamaica at the Beausejour Stadium, with both tied on the same number of points.
The Windwards bowlers led by Kaveem Hodge 3 for 0, Bronte Bess 2 for 4, Kurt Edward 2 for 14, and Levaughn Lewis 2 for 22, shot out Guyana for 51.
Denis Smith then hit 93, and Atticus Browne 41 as they replied with 190, a lead of 139. Amir Kahn picked up 8 for 70, bowling for the Guyanese.
Kahn was again in the limelight as he made 41 not out in his teamâs total of 226. Lewis bagged 5 for 77 and Audy Alexander 2 for 18, to set the Windwards 88 to win, reached 91 for 3, with Hodge 34 not out and Sunil Ambris 32 not out.
The Windwards lost on first innings to Barbados in their opening fixture, but reversed their fortunes with a similar outcome against Trinidad and Tobago in their second fixture.
Jamaica beat the Leewards outright, and gained first innings from Guyana, but lost on first innings to Trinidad and Tobago. Barbados follows the two on 18 points, having claimed first innings from the Windwards, the Leewards and Trinidad and Tobago.
Guyana is on 15 points, three more than Trinidad and Tobago on 12, and the Leewards is on 3 at the bottom of the table. (RT)
