Vinlec North Leeward T/20 Cricket bowls off
The 2010 VINLEC North Leeward Twenty20 Cricket Tournament got off to a quiet start last weekend. In the opening fixture, defending champion Rudyâs Electrical defeated new-comer Coulls Hill Rangers by 118 runs.{{more}}
Played at the Petit Bordel Playing Field, the match was reduced to 15 overs due to a late start.
Rudyâs Electrical batted first and reached 183 for 4 off their allotted overs. Calvert Cordice topscored with 88 not out and Christopher Campbell contributed 50. Albert Morgan took 2 for 35.
Coulls Hill Rangers in reply was dismissed for 65 off 11.2 overs. Akeem Shallow made 43. Elgin Richards took 3 for 15, Samuel Byam, 2 for 10, Nolan Williams, 2 for 14 and Rudolph Daize, 2 for 20.
The tournament, though, is suspended this weekend to make way for national Carnival celebrations but resumes Saturday, July 10.
Meanwhile, the North Leeward Sports Association has organized a Cricket Festival for all under 15 cricketers, both boys and girls, in North Leeward area . The festival takes place at the Petit Bordel Playing on Saturday, July 10, and commences at 10:00 am. An invitation is extended to all Under-15 cricketers from Fitz Hughes to Spring Village in North Leeward .
