Back to back wins for Church Boys, Youth Combined

Firefly Church Boys and Youth Combined gained back to back wins last weekend in the Hairoun Beer Bequia 20/20 Cricket Competition at the Clive Tannis Playing Field in Bequia.{{more}}

Feeling their wrath were French Mariann Terrace School Boys and NCB Paget Farm Pacers.

Church Boys reprimanded the Schoolboys by 111 runs. Church Boys batted first and made 202 for 5. Mc Kenson Kydd hit 46, Ronnie Gregg stroked 38 .Troyan Tannis took 2 for 39, bowling for the School Boys, who in reply were bowled out for 91.

Deandross Williams topscored with 27, as Brendon Duncan took 2 for 5 to return the best figures for Church Boys. Also at the losing end to Church Boys’ aggression was NCB Paget Farm Pacers. In similar fashion, Church Boys was equally dominant, this time winning by eight wickets.

Paget Farm Pacers reached 114, James Boucher topped their batting with 24, as Bernard Derrick took 3 for 14 and Levi Walker, 2 for 31.

Church Boys saw off the total reaching 117 for 2. Ronnie Gregg led the way with 33 not out and Walker, 29. Also, Youth Combined defeated Westside Knockers by 45 runs, and won from Manicou by 109 runs Youth Combined totalled 214 for 6. Former St. Vincent and the Grenadines Under-19 off spinner Jenry Ollivierre made 55, Omarl Lavia scored 54, and Jimi Lavia, 50. Glendell Gregg had figures of 2 for 14. Westside Knockers replied with 169. Zane Edwards led the unsuccessful run chase with 50, Devane Warner hit 43.

Ollivierre completed a good all-round effort as he snared 6 for 32 and Shinlon Pompey, 2 for 33. Youth Combined amassed 227 for 3. Omarl Lavia blasted 58, so, too, did Ron Stowe, 58, with former St. Vincent and the Grenadines opening batsman Neil Baptiste making 55.

Ulric Brackin had 2 for 44, bowling for Manicou, who strangled to 118 for 4, from their allotment of 20 overs. Godwin Friday was 42 not out, as former St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Windwards fast bowler Mc Neil Morgan taking 2 for 20.

And, Knights Trading Aussies overwhelmed Heineken by 243 runs. Aussies recorded the highest total in the competition thus far, a whopping 335 for 4. Verden Baptiste hit 118 not out, Razine Browne, 78, and Leon Lorraine, 53. Heineken replied with 92. (RT)
